Union Minister G Kishan Reddy today said that the stand of BJP over the issue of the establishment of a steel factory in Bayyaram of the State had always been very clear - that the party would stick to the feasibility report submitted by experts on the issue.
Speaking to the media, Reddy alleged that CM K Chandrashekar Rao and his family members were the real culprits in the steel factory issue, and that they were misleading the people of the State by spreading lies on the issue.
He said that the BJP and the party-led union government had made it clear on several occasions that it was not possible to set up a steel plant in Bayyaram given the report of the experts committee set up on the issue.
He said that the union government had set up the experts committee as per the promise made in the AP Reorganisation Act, and that the committee had undertaken two studies on the issue and come to the conclusion that it was not possible to set up a factory in the area.
He also said that the entire process was completed within six months of the creation of Telangana State, with the committee headed by the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) top brass submitting its report in November 2014 itself.
He added that the then union steel minister had also given a written reply on the issue on March 7, 2018, in the Rajya Sabha.
He claimed that the Telangana government had also constituted a committee on the issue comprising of State ministers K T Rama Rao and G Jagadish Reddy in 2018, and that that committee had also come to the same conclusion.
He said that the criticism of the ruling TRS leaders on the issue now was then meaningless, and asked them to stop their politics on the issue.
