BJP Telangana spokesperson Rachana Reddy condemned the State government sanctioning Rs 3 crore for a conference by Tablighi Jamaat in Parigi of Ranga Reddy district.
BJP Telangana spokesperson Rachana Reddy today condemned the decision of the State government to sanction Rs 3 crore for the organisation of a conference by Tablighi Jamaat in Parigi of Ranga Reddy district.
Addressing media persons at the party's State office, Reddy asked why the State government was giving money to an organisation that spread the ideology of Islam and terrorism.
She said that the new Congress government was revealing its true colours now.
"As soon as the Congress government came, a conference being organised by the Tablighi Jamaat, a Muslim missionary organisation, has been funded. The funds were sanctioned at a meeting held in Parigi mandal of Vikarabad district. We are not against Muslims. But why is the government giving money to an organisation that spreads the ideology of Islam and terrorism? Sanctioning funds for the conference is dangerous for the country," she said.
She claimed that in 2020, during the Covid-19 crisis, the Tablighi Jamaat was responsible for the spread of the virus in Delhi. She also said that the body had been accused of spreading terrorism.
"The Tablighi Jamaat has been banned in Saudi Arabia for its illegal conversion drive to Islam and its involvement in proselytizing activities. Saudi Arabia, the birthplace of Islam, has itself banned the Tablighi Jamaat. How can the government fund an organisation that indulges in the spread of extremist ideology and forced conversions without any intelligence inputs and without consulting the authorities?" she asked.
She said that it was regrettable that the Waqf Board was releasing funds for providing facilities like drinking water pipes and parking to the Tablighi Jamaat on a permanent basis.
