BJP Seeks Centre's Help On Closure Of Army Roads
BJP leader K Lakshman requested Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu to help get the Army's decision to close 9 roads in the Secunderabad Cantonment area revoked.
The Telangana unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday sought the intervention of the Union Government in getting the Army authorities to revoke their decision to close the Army's roads in the Secunderabad area from January 1.
In a memorandum submitted to Union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu, BJP floor leader Dr K Lakshman informed that the Army authorities had taken a decision to close all the nine roads in the Secunderabad Cantonment area from January 1st for the general public.
"The local residents and citizens of Hyderabad will be put to lot of inconvenience and will face unforeseen problems with the decision taken by the Army. I, therefore, request you to initiate the necessary steps and put in a word to the Ministry of Defence to revoke the decision and help the local people with this issue," he told Naidu.
In response, Naidu assured that he would take up the matter, and said that he had already spoken to Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on this issue. (INN)
