Telangana BJP president G Kishan Reddy on Sunday questioned the silence of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao over the official celebration of Hyderabad Liberation Day proposed by various people, on September 17.
Speaking to media persons at the State BJP office, Reddy claimed that last year KCR had promised to celebrate the Liberation Day on a grand scale after the formation of Telangana.
However, KCR had been maintaining silence on the issue despite repeated appeals by the BJP and other groups demanding official celebration of the occasion.
He asked whether the TRS was running the government independently or was working under the pressure of the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen.
Kishan Reddy said that former Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy and Kiran Kumar Reddy did not celebrate the Liberation Day during their regimes.
He demanded that the State Government celebrate the event officially, and declare a public holiday on September 17. (INN)
