BJP Govt Interfering In State Subjects: Ponguleti

The Telangana Congress MLC reacted furiously to reports that the Centre was considering abolition of Legislative Councils. Obviously.
Hyderabad | 19th July 2014
Congress MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy on Saturday alleged that the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre was trying to encroach upon the rights of Telangana, and interfere in its State subjects.

Reacting to the reports that the Centre was considering abolition of Legislative Councils, Ponguleti said that the Centre had no right to take such a decision.

He said that the decision to abolish the Legislative Council could be taken only by the Legislative Assembly concerned, by passing a resolution with a two-thirds majority.

He said that the BJP government should also abolish the Rajya Sabha, if it felt that Legislative Councils were of no use.

Ponguleti also demanded that the Centre take immediate action on starting a 4,000 MW power plant in Telangana and a steel plant at Bayyaram. (INN)
