Hyderabad | 30th March 2026
High drama unfolded in the Telangana Legislative Council on Monday as members of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) staged a protest demanding a House Committee probe into alleged illegal mining linked to Raghav Constructions and sought the dismissal of minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy.

The protesting MLCs stormed the Chairman's podium with placards, disrupting proceedings.

Minister for Legislative Affairs D Sridhar Babu said that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had already ordered a CB-CID inquiry into the issue, and urged the members to cooperate. However, despite repeated appeals from Council Chairman Gutha Sukender Reddy, the protest continued, prompting the government to move a suspension motion.

The Chairman then suspended 11 BRS MLCs for the day - S Madhusudhana Chari, Ravinder Rao, Deshapathi Srinivas, L Ramana, Yadava Reddy, Sunkari Raju, Naveen Kumar Reddy, Madhusudhan, Vani Devi, Pochampally Srinivas Reddy and M Koti Reddy.
