BJP GHMC Corporators Take Oath At Bhagyalaxmi Temple

The 48 newly-elected GHMC BJP corporators today visited the city's historic Bhagyalaxmi temple to take their oaths of office and to offer prayers to the presiding deity to thank her for their victory.

BJP spokesperson Rakesh Reddy administered the swearing-in oath to all the corporators.

Reddy also made them promise that they would always be accessible to the people, and would work to resolve all the developmental problems in the city.

Telangana BJP president and MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar, and MLA T Raja Singh also accompanied them.

Speaking on the occasion, the BJP chief said that the party members had visited the temple to fulfil a vow they had made during the GHMC election campaign.

"Our party had asked for the goddess' blessings to win the GHMC elections, and had promised to come and offer prayers after the results were declared. That is why we have come to the temple today," he explained.

The MP also expressed his gratitude to the people of the city for supporting the party in the election.

"We are grateful that the people of the city have given us the chance to serve them. I would also like to take this opportunity to assure all the people of the city that the BJP, contrary to the allegations of the party's detractors, is not against any religion. We will work for the welfare of every person in Hyderabad, and will do our best to resolve their problems. We will first bring up the issue of the distribution of monetary flood relief," he said.

The BJP leader then lashed out at the TRS and the AIMIM, and said that the saffron party would strive to free the people of the city from the rule of the two parties.

"The TRS and the MIM have not been able to develop the city satisfactorily. The Old City's backwardness is proof of this. I would urge the residents of the area to think about the reason for the underdevelopment here," he added.

Kumar also alleged that the leaders of the ruling party were trying buy the BJP's corporators to join the TRS.

He warned them that if they did not stop indulging in such behaviour, the saffron party would retaliate by encouraging at least 100 TRS MLAs to defect.

"The TRS must stop trying to coerce BJP corporators to defect. We can also encourage TRS leaders to do the same. Several TRS MLAs are already in touch with us," he added.

Bandi also claimed that CM K Chandrashekar Rao was delaying the mayoral elections, and asked him to expedite the process.
