Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday called for a state-wide bandh to be observed on 9 April over the energy crisis and the hike in power tariff.
Addressing a press conference at the State BJP Headquarters, BJP State President G Kishan Reddy sought the cooperation of people for the Bandh. He claimed that BJP's hunger strike over the power issue had gotten overwhelming response from the people.
Blaming Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy for the on-going power crisis, Kishan Reddy said that while the CM was frequently touring New Delhi to protect his seat of power, he had never visited the national capital to seek the Centre's help in resolving the energy crisis and the drinking water problem.
The BJP leader also alleged that the Chief Minister and the other cabinet ministers had completely lost their grip over the administration. Citing an example, he alleged that Minister N Raghuveera Reddy has boycotted the Revenue Sadassu in Krishna district due to non-cooperation by the officials. Asking the Chief Minister to get a grip over the administration, he advised him to represent the Centre for taking additional gas and coal to overcome energy crisis.
BJP MLAs E Lakshminarayana and Y Srinivas Reddy were also present during the press conference. (INN)
