Congratulating the Congress cadre and workers for securing a strong mandate for the party in the Jubilee Hills Assembly by-election, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today said that the result reflected the people's appreciation of his government's performance over the past two years.
He also said that the victory placed even greater responsibility on the government.
Gloating over the party's performance, he said, "The Congress secured 51% of the vote, while the BRS managed only 38%, and the BJP lost its deposit with just 8%. The Congress' vote share has been steadily increasing in Jubilee Hills: 39.5% in the 2023 Assembly polls, 41% in the 2024 parliamentary elections, and now 51%. No force can defeat Congress when the leadership is united."
Reiterating that the State government was preparing plans to transform Hyderabad into a global city, Revanth Reddy invited Union minister Kishan Reddy to the Secretariat to discuss pending projects and the release of central funds for Telangana.
He questioned the Union minister for not cooperating with the State government in securing central funds, and directed Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka to review all pending projects and report the details to all the MPs from the State.
"We are preparing plans for the expansion of the Metro Rail, elevated corridors, the Musi project, traffic solutions, and pumping Godavari water to Hyderabad. The Centre should help us," the Chief Minister said.
Revanth Reddy said that Kishan Reddy had taken responsibility for the BJP candidate's campaign, and had secured only 17,000 votes for the candidate and party. "The by-poll outcome is an alert before an earthquake. If the Union minister does not change his behaviour, the BJP will be buried in future political tremors," he said.
He also alleged that the BRS was obstructing development through misinformation on social media. "The BRS repeatedly created hurdles to HYDRAA and the Musi project. The opposition has every right to raise issues and protest, but leaders should not live in illusions. K T Rama Rao and Harish Rao need to change their approaches. KTR's arrogance and Harish Rao's jealousy must end. Power is not permanent. The people gave us a clear mandate - an absolute majority in the Assembly, a strong victory in Parliament, and now 51% votes in Jubilee Hills, where we secured more votes than the BRS and BJP combined," he said.
"The people are watching the conduct of the BRS leaders and are no longer willing to accept their leadership. The Assembly elections are three years away, and the opposition should to support Telangana's development now instead of indulging in petty politics. I will do politics only during election time, and so should they," he said.
