BJP Asks TRS Government To Lower VAT On Petrol, Diesel

Bandi Sanjay said that the petrol price would come down to Rs. 80 per litre if the State government did that.
Hyderabad | 22nd May 2022
Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay today demanded that the State government reduce the Value Added Tax (VAT) being imposed by it on petrol and diesel, and said that the petrol price would come down to Rs. 80 per litre if the State government did that.

He made this demand in the wake of the reduction of petrol and diesel prices by the union government.

"The Centre has reduced the prices of the petrol and diesel despite the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine. The Chief Minister should also reciprocate in the same manner," he said addressing media persons at Karimnagar along with other party leaders.

Referring to the visit of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to Punjab to extend financial aid to the family members of the Punjab farmers who had committed suicides during the farmers' agitation demanding that the Centre abolish the three controversial farm laws, the BJP leader alleged that KCR was distributing the money of the Telangana people to the Punjab farmers to gain publicity for himself and his party.

He also said that it was unfortunate that the CM, who did not console the family members of those who were killed in the Kondagattu bus accident and the TSRTC workers, was consoling the family members of the Punjab farmers.

Bandi also alleged that the State government was doling out cash to the farmers of other States when it did not have money to pay the salaries of its own employees on the first of every month.

"The employees of one district are getting salaries on the 10th of a month, and those of another district on the 11th, instead of on the first of every month," he said.

Union minister G Kishan Reddy too urged Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to reciprocate to the fuel price reduction decision of the Centre and reduce the VAT being imposed. He claimed that the Telangana government was imposing the highest taxes in the country on petrol and diesel products.
