In a major move to strengthen its organizational structure in Telangana, the BJP high command today appointed district presidents for 27 districts as part of its strategy to expand its influence ahead of the next Assembly elections.
The party, which performed well in Telangana in the last Lok Sabha elections, has been focusing on consolidating its grassroots network. The State BJP leadership has already completed elections for booth, village and mandal committees, and the appointment of district presidents marks the next step in this process.
With district-level appointments finalized, the BJP high command is expected to take a final decision on the State president's post soon. Union minister Kishan Reddy currently holds the position, but the party leadership is reportedly considering a change in leadership. Several names have emerged as frontrunners for the post, including MPs Etala Rajender, D K Aruna and D Arvind.
Sources indicate that the selection process is likely to conclude before the end of the ongoing Parliament session as the party gears up for the next electoral battle in Telangana.
