Beef Festival: 12 Students Arrested For Defying Court
The Hyderabad police arrested 12 Osmania University students who celebrated a beef festival in the campus in violation of the Hyderabad High Court's orders.
The police today arrested 12 Osmania University students who celebrated a beef festival in the university campus on Thursday in violation of the Hyderabad High Court's orders.
It may be recalled that ABVP leader Kadiam Raju had approached the High Court urging it not to allow the proposed beef festival and pork festival on the university premises. The Court then directed the Osmania University authorities to follow the City Civil Court's direction to maintain status-quo in the university campus till December 20 and avoid any festivals.
However, several students did conduct the "festival" in their hostel rooms in flagrant violation of the Court orders, and floated images and videos of the "celebrations" over the social media.
