As many as 50 students of the Basara IIIT fell ill today after taking their breakfast.
They started vomiting and suffered from stomach pain after their breakfast.
The students alleged that they fell ill due to food poisoning.
The students of the institute have been turning victims of food poisoning incidents for a long time now. They very recently held a massive week-long protest after a food poisoning incident a month back, continuing the protest without fearing rains or the hot days. State Education Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy had responded and promised to solve their problems, including cancellation of the tenders of the mess contractors of the institute. The authorities of the institute issued a notification inviting fresh tenders for mess contractors following a warning by the students that they would hold another round of the protest program. However, the problems do not appear solved even 20 days later.
The students have once again demanded that the State government solve their problems immediately, including the appointment of a permanent Vice Chancellor for the institute.
