Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today announced that the State government would construct a barrage at Tummidi Hatti across the Godavari river and would name the project after Dr B R Ambedkar.
Addressing a "Jana Jatara Sabha" at Adilabad, the Chief Minister also promised that the Congress government would take up the construction of a project in Kupti in Adilabad, and that a majority of the area in the district would be brought under the irrigation in the future.
The CM alleged that the previous BRS government had redesigned the Pranahitha-Chevella project for the sake of commissions and had constructed faulty barrages in the name of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme, and said that his government would create projects where they were actually needed.
Respecting the tribal customs and traditions and to preserve their roots, the Congress government has also taken a decision to conduct the Nagoba Jatara, the annual mega religious festival of the Adivasi Gond tribe, on a grand scale from now onwards, and had decided to allocate Rs 4 crore for the festival celebrations, he said.
Claiming that five of the six guarantees made by the Congress before the elections had already been implementing in Telangana, Reddy reiterated that the loan waiver of Rs 2 lakh for farmers would be completed by August 15.
He also claimed that the Congress government had given 30,000 jobs in three months.
In contrast, the BJP government at the Centre and the BRS government in Telangana had not made any development after being in power for 10 years.
"The promises made during the Assembly elections are being implemented by the Congress government in Telangana within 100 days, but BJP and BRS leaders are not tolerating the performance of Congress government and are hatching conspiracies against it," Reddy alleged, and called upon the people to defeat the BJP candidates in the Lok Sabha elections.
