Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao will inaugurate the much-awaited Mallanna Sagar reservoir of 50 TMC capacity on Wednesday.
The CM will formally release the waters from this pump house, which is expected to irrigate about 12 lakh acres.
The pump house was built as part of the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project to bring under irrigation the nearby lands and provide a boost to agricultural activities.
Finance Minister T Harish Rao reviewed the arrangements for the Chief Minister to inaugurate the reservoir.
The project was originally planned with a 1.5 TMC capacity, and later the capacity was increased to 50 TMC through a redesign program.
With this project, the total ayacut of 8.33 lakh acres will be stabilized in Nizam Sagar, Ghanpur and Singur.
Agricultural lands under the Gandhamalla, Konda Pochamma and Baswapur reservoirs, some 12 lakh acres, will be irrigated through this reservoir.
