In a major crackdown, the Commissioner's Task Force and the Banjara Hills police arrested 10 persons involved in the illegal storage and sale of LPG cylinders at inflated prices in the Banjara Hills area.
The accused were caught red-handed near Nagarjuna X Road while dumping and selling HP gas cylinders in violation of safety norms. The police seized 414 cylinders of various capacities, along with multiple transport vehicles used in the operation.
The prime accused Mohammed Aamir allegedly operates Metro Gas Agency, and orchestrated the illegal storage at a graveyard and used labourers to supply cylinders to customers at higher rates.
According to the officials, the racket not only violated regulations but also posed serious safety risks.
DCP Gaikwad Vaibhav Raghunath confirmed the arrests and the seizure of LPG cylinders worth Rs 21.88 lakh, and said that strict action would be taken against those endangering public safety and exploiting consumers.
