Telangana BJP head Bandi Sanjay Kumar today flayed the state government for the arrest of a BJP worker from Sirpur in Kagaznagar.
He alleged that the police had arrested Sirpur BJP in-charge Palvai Harish Babu and had kept him in jail despite the fact that he was a Covid-19 patient, and demanded that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao take steps to have him released at the earliest.
(The Sirpur Kagaznagar court has remanded the leader to 14 days of judicial remand. Cases under various sections of the IPC, including section 307 (attempt to murder), and for violating the Disaster Management Act have been filed against him. Meanwhile, the local magistrate has directed the police to shift Babu to Adilabad jail and has asked the concerned officials to allow him to access healthcare if his health deteriorates.)
The BJP big-shot also warned the government that it would face "dire consequences" if anything happened to Babu while in jail.
"Our party is not intimidated by police action. We are
ready to get arrested for our efforts to wrest from the CM the absolute control he has over Telangana. After all, these paltry attempts of the TRS to weaken our party clearly demonstrate how scared the party is of us," Kumar stated.
"The CM has a standard approach to dealing with opposition - he uses his power to crush dissenters of any kind. He has even been trying to attack the people raising questions about their rights - tribal podu land owners, who have been bringing up the problems they have been facing for years, have exposed themselves to the ire of the CM and his colleagues. This state of affairs reveals that for the last six years, KCR has only lied to them about addressing their grievances but has not been able to do so yet. We will stand by the tribal community till their problems are resolved by the TRS regime," he added.
