Responding to the letter received from the Telangana State Commission for Women on March 13 to appear before it on March 15, Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar wrote to the commission informing it that he would be in Parliament in New Delhi as an MP as his presence was required during the budget session of Parliament, and so would not be able to appear before the Commission on that date.
He offered to appear before the commission on March 18.
The Karimnagar MP also requested the commission to provide him with the necessary material prior to the date of his appearance, so that he would be in a position to give his explanation, if any.
The commission has asked him to appear before it in connection with his alleged comments about K Kavitha. When asked for his views on speculation that Kavitha could be arrested by the ED in the alleged Delhi liquor policy scam, Sanjay had reported rhetorically asked, "If they don't arrest her for what she did, will they kiss her?" The comment led to protests by BRS leaders and workers.
