Secunderabad MP and BJP senior leader Bandaru Dattatreya and TDP Rajya Sabha MP Y S "Sujana" Chowdary were inducted into the Union Cabinet of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday.
Dattatreya and Chowdary were among the 21 ministers who were administered the oath of office and secrecy by President Pranab Mukherjee at an impressive ceremony held in the Darbar Hall of Rashtrapati Bhavan.
While Dattatreya is the lone face representing Telangana State, Chowdary is the second person from Andhra Pradesh (along with Ashoka Gajapathi Raju) to get a slot in the Union Cabinet, as part of the TDP's quota.
While Dattatreya has been made Minister of State (Independent Charge), Chowdary has been inducted as a Minister of State.
Speaking to media persons after the swearing-in-ceremony, Dattatreya said he would strive hard to work for the development of the country, and especially Telangana. He said that he would ensure that Telangana got its due share of funds and other assistance from the Centre.
Chowdary thanked Prime Minister Modi and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for his induction. (INN)
