Dattatreya Demands Relief For Farmers
BJP leader Bandaru Dattatreya has accused the state government of not releasing compensation for the farmers whose crops were damaged due to heavy rains last year.
Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Bandaru Dattatreya on Sunday accused the state government of showing discrimination in releasing compensation to the farmers whose crops were damaged due to heavy rains in the months of November and December last year.
Talking to mediapersons at the party headquarters at Nampally, Dattatreya said that the state government, which projects itself as the champion of farmers, has totally failed to release compensation to the said farmers.
The BJP leader reminded that crops spread over 50 lakh hectares were damaged during the heavy rains in the coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema regions.
Dattatreya demanded that the government immediately convene an all-party meeting, and enumerate the actions that it has taken to address the problems of the rain-hit farmers.
"If the government fails to convene an all-party meeting on the farmers' issues, the BJP will launch agitations against it," the senior leader warned. (INN)
