Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar, along with BJP leaders, today visited a paddy purchase centre at Kothagattu in Sankarapatnam mandal of Karimnagar district. There, he inquired about the challenges farmers faced in selling paddy.
He alleged that the government had delayed paddy procurement for a month to avoid paying bonuses to farmers, forcing them to sell to brokers instead. He claimed that the interests of the State's farmers were being sacrificed to extort commissions from brokers.
"The Centre is paying every paisa, including interest. So what is the issue for the government in buying the paddy?" he asked.
The minister criticized the Chief Minister, saying that the State government's action plan for paddy procurement was not being implemented effectively.
Sanjay also took the opportunity to also criticize the Congress's plans to celebrate its "people's victory" after one year in office.
"What have you achieved to celebrate the people's victory? Are you celebrating the success of implementing your six guarantees? Did you succeed in giving two lakh jobs to the unemployed, a tola of gold for brides, a scooter for female students, and Rs 2,500 per month to women? Did you succeed in implementing Rs 4,000 as pension to the elderly? Did you succeed in providing houses to the poor? What are these celebrations for? You can only celebrate deceiving the people who believed in you and cast their votes for you," he said.
