The City Police Commissionerate has prohibited the bursting of fire crackers on public roads and public places during the Deepavali festival celebrations.
Police Commissioner M Mahendar Reddy announced on Thursday that the ban would be in force from 6 am on November 10 to 6 am on November 13.
In a press note, the Police Commissioner stated that as per a Supreme Court directive, there would also be a complete ban on the bursting of sound-emanating fire crackers on the public roads and public places in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad between 10 pm and 6 am.
The noise levels of fire crackers, or mucial instrumnets such as drums, should also not exceed the permissible limits, as notified by the Pollution Control Board, between 6 am and 10 pm, he added.
The police chief warned that any citizen violating the order would be prosecuted under the relevant laws.
