Actor-turned-politician Nandamuri Balakrishna today demanded that the Andhra Pradesh government declare his Assembly constituency Hindupur a separate district.
He claimed that Hindupur had all the qualifications needed to become a separate district.
The MLA sat on a silent protest over his demand. He then also took out a rally from the Sri Potti Sriramulu crossroads to the Ambedkar statue.
Speaking on the occasion, Balakrishna alleged that the state government had declared the names of the new districts in order to divert the attention of the people of the state from the ongoing agitation of the government employees.
He also made it clear that he was ready to make any kind of sacrifice for the sake of Hindupur, and that his intention was to ensure the well-being of his constituency and the state.
He said that he was ready to even quit as MLA if required to attain his demand.
