Telugu film actor, Hindupuram MLA and Chairman of the Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital & Research Institute Nandamuri Balakrishna celebrated his 58th birthday amidst children fighting cancer, and amidst hundreds of his fans, today on the hospital premises.
Balakrishna started by paying homage to his late parents Nandamuri Basavatarakam and Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao by garlanding their statues. He also inaugurated a blood bank organized by the NBK Helping Hands on the hospital premises. More than 500 members donated blood on the occasion.
Later, he cut a cake amidst children being treated for cancer and his fans, and shared the cake with all.
Speaking on the occasion, Balakrishna lauded his fans "for standing in the forefront of helping society by organizing several social service-oriented projects and programs". He also announced that a new facility of the hospital would come up at Amaravathi in 15 acres allotted by the Government of Andhra Pradesh.
Balakrishna exuded confidence that the two Telugu states, despite being divided, would prosper and grow. Recalling his late father NTR's entry into politics, Balakrishna promised that he would also work in the same way for the self-respect of the Telugu people.
Earlier, Balakrishna was greeted by Kodela Sivaprasada Rao, AP Speaker and Trust Board Member of the hospital; J S R Prasad; Dr R V Prabhakar Rao, CEO of the hospital; Dr Subramanyeswara Rao, Medical Director of the hospital; Dr Kalpana Raghunath; Dr Sumathi and others.
