Balakrishna Teams Up With Star Sports For Tata IPL 2023

Star Sports has teamed up with popular Telugu film actor Nandamuri Balakrishna to be part of the TATA IPL 2023 coverage on Star Sports Telugu.

The association formed part of its endeavour to grow the popularity of cricket in the key markets of Andhra Pradesh & Telangana, Star Sports said.

Balakrishna, with a career spanning 50 years, is also said to be an ardent cricket fan, and was an active cricketer during his college days, playing alongside the likes of former Indian captain Mohammad Azharuddin. He continues to maintain a strong association with the game, captaining a cricket team in a celebrity league and often caught on camera playing on the sets of his films.

More than 85% of cricket viewership in the two Telugu States now happened in Telugu, led by former Indian cricketers Venugopal Rao (also an IPL title winner) and M S K Prasad (a former Chief Selector) and featuring the much-feted Mithali Raj, the channel claimed.

Speaking on his association with Star Sports Telugu, Balakrishna said, "As a cricket fan, I am delighted to be associated with the IPL on Star Sports Telugu. My favourite memories of the IPL include enjoying the games on a big screen with my friends and family, and I am very excited that our Telugu fans will now get to watch me on the coverage. I will be supporting all our cricketing heroes and hope that it will be a special season for all of us. I am looking forward to joining the Star Sports Telugu experts on March 31."
