Former MP and former Indian cricket captain Mohammed Azharuddin has disclosed his intention to contest for the Secunderabad Parliamentary constituency in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
He however clarified that the final decision on who gets the ticket for the constituency would depend upon the party (the Congress).
Azharuddin had won the Moradabad seat of Uttar Pradesh in the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, but lost in 2014 election for the Tonk-Savay constituency of Rajasthan.
The ex-cricketer said that the people of the Secunderabad Lok Sabha constituency had told him when he visited the constituency that they wanted him to compete for the seat in 2019. He said that he had conveyed the same to the party high command and AICC Telangana in-charge.
