Firebrand Congress leader and TPCC Working President A Revanth Reddy, who lost the election for the Kodangal Assembly seat, is likely to contest for the Mahabubnagar Lok Sabha seat in the coming elections.
The state leadership of the party is planning to propose his name for the seat, according to sources.
The party leadership is of the view that Reddy is a strong candidate for the seat and that he has the ability to emerge as the winner. The TRS' sitting MP A P Jithender Reddy will be the party's nominee for the Mahabubnagar seat again, and will be Revanth Reddy's main opponent.
The TRS is contesting for 16 of the 17 Lok Sabha seats from Telangana, leaving only the Hyderabad seat to the MIM.
The process to identify the candidates for the various constituencies has intensified in the state among all the political parties. Both the BJP and the Congress are likely to announce the names of their candidates for all the Lok Sabha seats in the state very soon.
