A 40-year-old businessman committed suicide allegedly due to the harassment of some financiers.
According to the Rajendra Nagar police, the deceased, Syed Moinuddin, a resident of Happy Homes at Attapur, took the extreme step in the KGN Kirana Store that he was running near his residence for the last eight years.
On Monday afternoon, he reportedly asked his neighbour to pull down the shutter of his store from outside, since, he said, he was cleaning up the shop.
After about two hours, his family members came to check why he did not come home for lunch. Finding no response after repeatedly knocking the shutter, the family members grew suspicious, and broke it open. They found Moinuddin hanging from the ceiling.
According to sources, the police also found a suicide note, in which Moinuddin alleged that he was being harassed by some financiers as he was unable to repay the interest and loan that he took from them.
Police registered a case and started investigations. The body was handed over to relatives after an autopsy was conducted at the Osmania General Hospital on Tuesday.
According to his friend Mohammad Shahnawaz, several people in Attapur and surrounding localities are being harassed by these financiers. He says that no action is being taken against them despite several complaints.
He also alleged that although Moinuddin had clearly held the financiers' harassment responsible for him taking the extreme step, the police were treating his death as a suicide due to financial problems. (INN)
