Congress MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy today held a protest in front of the Sri Chaitanya Residential Junior College at Narsingi demanding action against its staff for reportedly abetting the suicide of a student.
He demanded that the State government and police take immediate and stringent action against those responsible for the suicide.
The MP said that he would continue his protest till the accused were arrested by the police.
The protest led to tense moments for a couple of hours in the area. The police made arrangements to avoid any untoward incident.
Speaking on the occasion, Reddy alleged that the college was collecting huge fees from the parents of students in the name of imparting IIT entrance training, but did not even have qualified teachers.
Referring to the alleged physical attacks by the faculty members of the college on the students, he said that no one had the right to attack students physically. He also advised students not to take hasty decisions to end their lives over trivial matters and leave their parents in permanent grief.
He added that he had already lodged a complaint with the union HRD ministry against the management of the college, and said that he would fight legally on the issue for as long as it took.
