35 of the 101 identified offenders have been arrested in connection with the sensational attack, rioting and looting of the Marredpally police station in Secunderabad on August 5.
The police also seized ten mobile phones, eight motorcycles, one autorickshaw and five iron rods connected to the crime.
The Joint Commissioner of Police, Detective Department, on Monday reconstructed the incident. He said that a mob of some 200 people had formed into an unlawful assembly, and, armed with deadly weapons, raided the Marredpally police station, brutally assaulted police personnel and ransacked the premises.
Some criminals in the frenzied mob went on a rampage damaging government and private properties.
Alleging that the police were responsible for the death of one Godugula Banappa of Mahatma Gandhi Nagar who had been in custody and died shortly after being released, the mob went berserk, setting ablaze a motorcycle by breaking open its petrol tank, and torching the police station's records, including its general diary and other items.
The JCP also said that the accused were involved in seven criminal cases including damaging the Kharkhana Police Station patrol van, two RTC buses in Kushaiguda, Iyengar Bakery and a push cart of a chaat vendor.
They had also taken away cash of Rs 39,000 from the police station, two dragon lights, a manpack wireless set, manpack chargers, a laptop and 18 seized mobile phones.
The JCP stated that his personnel had arrested principal accused Ganta Raju, Tokapuram Naveen alias Timmu (A5), Ganta Sairam (A6), Mohd Moulana alias Moula (A7), Sunnapu Hanmanthu (A9), K Yadaiah (A11, Bidlani Viswendar (A12), Koota Ramu (A13), Syed Rafique (A14), Ambala Kiran (A15) and 25 others.
Most of the accused belonged to Mahatma Gandhi Nagar, and Ganta Raju, Ganta Sairam, Mohd Moulana, Sunnapu Hanmanthu and K Yadaiah organised the attack on the police station, he said.
He added that as a rowdy sheet was being maintained against the attackers in the Marredpally PS, the criminals took advantage of the tense situation and attacked the PS.
A manhunt was on to nab the remaining culprits, he said, adding that the arrested accused were produced before the court on Monday.
