Asifabad Medical College To Be Named After Bapuji
Speaking at the All-India Padmashali Mahasabha, Telangana CM Revanth Reddy lauded the late leader, and also announced plenty of sops of the Padmashali community.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today announced that the Asifabad Medical College would be named after Konda Laxman Bapuji, honouring the veteran leader's contributions to Telangana.
He directed Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao to initiate the official procedures for renaming the institution.
Speaking at the All-India Padmashali Mahasabha at the Exhibition Grounds in Nampally, Reddy lauded Bapuji's sacrifice, recalling that the latter had given up his ministerial position for Telangana's cause and launched the second phase of the statehood movement at his residence.
Reddy said that as part of efforts to honour his legacy, the State government had convinced the Centre to establish the Indian Institute of Handloom Technology in Bapuji's name.
The CM also accused the previous BRS government of failing to pay due respect to the late leader, and said that the community would not forget the disregard shown towards Bapuji.
Lauding the contributions of the Padmashali community, the CM said that the government was committed to ensuring fairness and opportunities for its members.
"The Padmashali community stands for dignity and sacrifice. I will advocate for your rights," he said. He pledged Rs 1 crore for the construction of Markandeya Bhavan in Solapur, a project aimed at promoting the dignity and cultural identity of the Padmashali community. He also promised financial aid, political support and job opportunities for its members.
