Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today expressed his anger over the bandh announced by the Federation of Associations of Telangana Higher Institutions (FATHI).
The Chief Minister said that the pending funds would be released in 11 installments and that colleges should cooperate with the government.
He accused certain associations of being driven purely by profit motives, and warned that the government would not remain silent if students faced difficulties, and that strict action would be taken against those who took the warning lightly.
"Students' lives should not be played with. Neither colleges nor political parties will be spared if they endanger students' futures. Education cannot be treated as a business," he said.
He also alleged that private college managements were acting as if such issues emerged only after his government came to power, and as if no problems existed before.
Reddy also said that he was well aware of the political affiliations of the private college managements, and that the government would not tolerate blackmail.
Concluding his remarks, he said, "Let's see how many donations they receive next year."
