Owaisi Slams Reports Of MIM Deal With BJP In Bihar
Rumours are that the BJP got the MIM to contest the Bihar polls to split the Muslim votes which have traditionally gone to the Congress and the JD (U).
Hyderabad MP and MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi today denied reports that his party had struck a secret deal with the BJP for the Bihar elections.
Speaking to the media today, Owaisi refuted reports to this effect, and asserted that there was no tacit understanding or deal between the AIMIM and the BJP for the Bihar elections.
Rumours are rife that the BJP engineered the MIM contesting the Bihar polls since the MIM would split the Muslim votes which traditionally go to the Congress and the JD (U), thereby hurting those parties and enhancing the prospects of the BJP.
The MIM supremo also said that there would be no truck with the grand JDU-RJD-Congress alliance, either.
Owaisi also added that his party would be contesting the upcoming Assembly elections only in the Seemanchal region.
"We will soon announce the number of seats we will be contesting," he said.
The Hyderabad-based MIM decided to contest in the Bihar Assembly elections after its surprisingly decent performance in the Maharashtra elections, where it won two Assembly seats.
