Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi on Sunday strongly criticised TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu for entering into an alliance with the BJP.
Speaking to media persons at Darulsalaam, Owaisi reminded them that Naidu had expressed regret and even apologised for continuing the alliance with the BJP even after Gujarat riots of 2002. However, the TDP chief had now decided to go along with the BJP only to grab power and for personal gains, he alleged.
He said that the renewal of the alliance would spell the death-knell for the TDP in the State's politics.
Owaisi said that the MIM would properly guide the people under these changed circumstances. He added that the party would announce the remaining candidates for the ensuing elections in the next two days.
Owaisi also said that the MIM would be fielding non-Muslim candidates to prove that it was secular. However, he alleged that the parties which have been claiming to be secular have shown communal colours.
Owaisi said that the MIM would not have any pre-poll alliances, although it would take a decision on post-poll alliances to keep communal forces away from power.
When asked about his friendship with YSR Congress Party president Jagan Mohan Reddy, the MIM chief said that he had good relationships with all politicians. He hoped that Jagan would not sail with the BJP after the elections.
Owaisi also said that he would soon learn Telugu and would deliver speeches in Telugu in the 2019 elections.
Earlier, he admitted 270 doctors and about 500 engineers into the party. MIM leaders Dr. Asad Sabri, Syed Mahmood Hussaini and Syed Hasnain Sabri were also present at the occasion. (INN)
