Continuing its press conference on Armed Forces issues, the Ex-Servicemen Welfare Association requested the Telangana government to widen the roads from Secunderabad Parade Grounds to the Hakimpet Airport to the TSRTC Depot Bus Station, as the present ones had become highly congested and dilapidated.
Association President M P Narendra and office-bearer Kishore Bhalla said that the stretch from Secunderabad Parade Grounds to the TSRTC Bus Station lead to Shamirpet, Siddipet, Karimnagar, Gajwel, Basara, Yadadri and Vemulawada temples which were famous pilgrimage centres, and this lead to the roads at Secunderabad club, Karkhana, Trimulgherry, Bowenpally, Lothkunta and Rashtrapathi Nilayam becoming highly cramped due to heavy vehicular traffic.
The general public are suffering and losing nearly 20 minutes traversing these roads, they lamented. Even Ambulances carrying patients were unable to pass freely due to lack of space. This situation was going on since 1983, they fumed.
The personnel recalled that there was a lot of area in the cantonment public gardens at the Jubilee Bus Station. And several square yard of open grounds was available at the K V School area and Vikrampuri on either side. The empty defence lands from Karkhana to Trimulgherry could also be used, they suggested.
They regretted that no public representative was taking interest in the matter while common people were suffering.
