Lieutenant General M M Lakhera today paid tributes to the soldiers who died in the line of duty in the Uri terrorist attacks, at the Bison Warrior's Monument in Bolarum, Hyderabad, on behalf of the Bison Divison of the city.
He also paid his respects to all those soldiers who had sacrificed their lives guarding the Indian borders over the years.
The event assumes significance as it commemorates the Golden Jubilee of the raising of the division.
A eulogy delivered in the event mentioned the 679 gallantry awards bestowed on the slain soldiers over the years for their sacrifices in Operations CACTUS-LILY, PAWAN, VIJAY and PARAKRAM, which include 3 Param Vir Chakras, 2 Ashok Chakras, 15 Maha Vir Chakras and 59 Vir Chakras, among others.
Apart from the wartime sacrifices, the eulogy also thanked the Army for its humanitarian assistance and disaster relief over the years in Operations RAHAT, LEHAR and HUDHUD, and also the recent floods in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
