Army Demand 75% More Income Than Govt. Employees

Representatives of the Army in the city demanded that the Centre maintain a higher difference of pay scales between defence personnel and civilians.

The Housing Society of Ex-Servicemen Welfare Association, Core Committee of Greater Hyderabad City, demanded that the Central government pay salaries and pensions to defence personnel 50-75% more than that of civilian employees, in order to mitigate the overall OROP (One Rank One Pension) anomalies and keep the morale of the combat forces and their widows high.

Addressing the media, Association President M P Narendra pointed out that the government could show importance and respect to its Armed Forces by giving 50-75% higher salaries and pension compared to its civilian employees.

The Indian Armed forces were a specialized combatant force and their duties involved risk to life, and most of the time they were away from their families which caused mental agony, he opined and added that the forces deserved the highest of wages.
