Barring Telangana, the Group-1 preliminary examination conducted by the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission on Sunday passed off peacefully in all Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema districts across the state.
According to sources, the percentage of attendance at examination centres in Seemandra districts stood at 65, whereas 35% attendance was reported at the Telangana districts.
In the state capital, the percentage of attendance stood at 45.
The APPSC conducted the examination at 445 centres across the state under tight police security in the wake of Telangana students' organizations calling for a Telangana bandh.
In Warangal, 50% of students did not turn up for the examination. The percentage-wise attendance of students in some districts is: Hyderabad - 45, Nellore - 48, Krishna - 40, West Godavari - 50, Adilabad - 42, Karimnagar - 36, Mahabubnagar - 44, Visakhapatnam - 68, Chittor - 41, Kurnool - 52, Khammam - 42, Guntur - 52, Warangal - 50, Anantapur - 53.5, Prakasam - 46, Kadapa - 45, Vizianagaram - 55, and Medak - 43.
Except allegations of leakage of the question paper in the Osmania B. Ed College in the capital, the examination was conducted peacefully across the state.
Meanwhile, the Telangana bandh call against the G-1 exams evoked partial response even as some incidents of stone-pelting on APSRTC buses was reported.
Reports of buses being damaged due to stone pelting were received from Hyderabad, Karimnagar and some other cities.
Pro-Telangana protestors are believed to have set a bus on fire in Karimnagar. A
3-tier security ring around the exam centres had been put in place to ward off any untoward incidents.
