At a press conference on Thursday, CM Kiran Kumar Reddy said that AP would be getting a second port at Ramayapatnam in Prakasam district.
The proposal for a second major port got its clearance from an inter-ministerial committee, and will be placed before the central cabinet for a final decision. The project is estimated to cost around Rs. 7,000 crores.
The site Ramayapatnam was chosen after the examination of two other sites, Nakkapalli in Vishakapatnam and Duggarajupatnam in Nellore.
The CM, at a conference in his 3-day Indiramma Baata program, said that there was no shortage of funds for the capital expenditure on creating such an asset for the country.
Meanwhile the CM also said that the state might overcome its power and water shortage problems since Srisailam reservoir was getting good inflows.
