Pawan Kalyan Calls For Padayatras From Tomorrow
The Jana Sena chief called upon the people to take up padayatras on April 6 on national highways in protest against the "betrayal of the Centre" on special status.
Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan called upon the people to take up padayatras on April 6 on national highways in protest against the "betrayal of the Centre" on special status and implementation of assurances made under the AP Reorganization Act of 2014.
Kalyan had a meeting with CPM and CPI leaders P Madhu and K Ramakrishna respectively today. Speaking to the media later, the actor said that the BJP neglecting its responsibility of running Parliament properly was nothing but a conspiracy, and a severe blow to democracy.
"We are taking up padayatras on April 6 protesting against the BJP's undemocratic acts. The padayatras will be held mainly on national highways only," he said.
He said that local people would also participate along with Jana Sena, CPM and CPI activists in the padayatras.
CPI state secretary Ramakrishna said that the special status and assurances issues came to the forefront just because of Pawan Kalyan, who had first demanded that political parties move a no-confidence motion against the Centre. The Centre was not coming forward to a debate on the no-confidence motion, he said. He also alleged that both the TDP and YSR Congress Party were criticizing each other at the cost of the aspirations of five crore people.
CPM state secretary Madhu demanded that the Centre respond to the demands of the Andhra Pradesh people. He also alleged that the BJP government was diluting the SC, ST Prevention of Atrocities Act, and that his party would announce its action plan in a phased manner.
