AP Recalls Its Police Forces Deployed In Hyderabad
The AP government recalled its police forces deployed in Hyderabad after advice by Governor E S L Narasimhan to avert a possible law and order situation.
The Andhra Pradesh government recalled its police forces deployed in Hyderabad yesterday consequent to the advice by Governor E S L Narasimhan to avert a possible law and order situation.
It might be mentioned here that amidst a high voltage drama on Tuesday, the AP government had deployed its own police and security personnel in the joint capital Hyderabad fearing a threat to TDP leaders and Andhra settlers.
The move triggered off resentment and protests from the Telangana police which argued that it was its responsibility to provide security to all concerned and yjay a police force from another state had no jurisdiction here.
When the AP Director-General of Police J V Ramudu called on the Governor last evening, he was advised not to precipitate the matter and to withdraw the forces.
Accordingly, the DGP recalled as many as 400 AP police personnel deployed in the state capital, and the same was conveyed to the Governor this morning.
However Andhra Pradesh has asked some police personnel of its force to continue to remain as standby. (NSS)
