People Have Given A Historic Verdict: Chandrababu Naidu

TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu today said that the people of the State had given a verdict that had never been seen in the history of Andhra Pradesh.

Naidu was speaking at a TDP - Jana Sena - BJP alliance legislature party meeting in Vijayawada, where he was elected as the leader of the NDA legislature party.

Thanking the NDA allies for that, he said that people had taken the initiative to save the State, and that it was the allies' responsibility now to uphold the mandate given by the people.

"The leaders and workers of the three parties worked together 100%. It is rare in the history of the country for any party to win 93% of the seats in an election. The people blessed us with 57% votes in the elections. With this huge verdict from the people, there is more responsibility on all of us. The time has come to collectively repay the debt of the people," he said.

Naidu also pointed out that the Jana Sena Party had won all the 21 Assembly seats that it had contested for, and that the BJP won eight of the 10 seats it had contested for. "I will never forget Pawan Kalyan's contribution. He came and visited me when I was in jail, and played a key role in bringing the TDP and Jana Sena together. He also said that the BJP, TDP and Jana Sena should contest together. We then formed the alliance in the interest of the State. We worked together without any mistake," he said.

He said that he would take oath as the CM on Wednesday in the presence of PM Narendra Modi and other NDA leaders. "Everyone in Delhi too is respecting the huge verdict given by the people. The prestige of the State has increased with this landslide verdict. The Central leaders have said that they will fully cooperate with the State," Naidu said.

He said that while his family had been insulted by the YSRCP leaders, forgiving wrongdoers was his habit. He added that wrongdoers needed to be punished legally, and that the politics of vandalism and vendetta needed to be eradicated.

He said that 72% of the Polavaram project works had been completed, and that the diaphragm wall of the project was washed away. The project would be completed with the help of the Centre, he said.

"We will connect the rivers and provide water to every acre," he vowed.
