Responding to the reported remarks of the country's "waterman" and Magsaysay awardee Rajendra Singh over the strength of the Srisailam project, Andhra Pradesh Irrigation Minister Anil Kumar on Thursday asserted that there was no threat to the project.
Kumar said that he had sought a detailed report on the project's condition from the officials concerned, and was satisfied that there was no threat to the project, and that it did not have any cracks.
He said that even underwater photography was done to assess the condition of the project, and claimed that there was not even an iota of truth in the reports of danger to the project.
He also asserted that the State government was taking all possible steps to protect the project.
Meanwhile, the Executive Engineer of the project Chandrashekhar also said that there was no threat to the project, and that there was no truth in the comments reportedly made by Singh.
