BRS MPs today expressed their displeasure over the handing over of the Nagarjuna Sagar and Srisailam projects to the KRMB.
The MPs met with Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat in New Delhi, and apprised him of the "losses" to the State due to the decisions taken by the management board.
They handed over a letter to the minister expressing their objections to the assignment of the projects. They said that the handing over would cause irreparable loss to Telangana, and demanded that the decision be withdrawn.
They also sought a 50:50 supply of water to both the States till the completion of the hearing in the Krishna Tribunal.
However, the minister told the MPs that the Telangana government had agreed to hand over the projects to the KRMB.
Leader of the BRS in the Lok Sabha Nama Nageswara Rao said that the MPs had told the union minister that the people of Telangana would suffer due to the decision taken by the State government.
"We told the minister that the farmers of the districts in the Krishna basin would suffer severely," he said.
He vowed that the BRS would fight over the issue in a big way in the future, and that the matter would be taken up for a discussion in Parliament.
