The Andhra Pradesh High Court today issued crucial orders on the issue of transportation of liquor bottles into the state from other states.
It asked the authorities to implement GO MS No 411 on the issue, which would allow every individual to bring in three bottles of the liquor into the state.
The HC passed these orders while dealing with a petition alleging harassment by the police.
The petitioners complained to the HC that the police were harassing them whenever they were bringing liquor bottles into the state from the other states of the country.
They said that the police were ignoring the orders allowing people of the state and others to bring three whisky bottles and six beer bottles into the state.
Individuals can carry three bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) or foreign liquor, 3 bulk litres of denatured alcohol / methylated spirit, or six beer bottles of 650 ml each as per GO 411.
The order also allows people to transport 2 bulk litres of toddy.
It however prevents the transportation of the rectified spirit and intoxicating drugs into the state from other parts of the country.
