AP and Telangana Governor E S L Narasimhan, his Special Chief Secretary Dr. N. Ramesh Kumar, Joint Secretary P. Basanth Kumar, other senior officers and all staff members participated in the Swachch Bharat program conducted in the premises of the Raj Bhavan on Friday.
This is the 4th round of the Swachch Bharat program being conducted in the Raj Bhavan. On every Saturday evening between 3:30pm and 5:30pm, the employees all participate in cleaning up the premises of the nearly 30 acres of the Raj Bhavan.
An action plan has been drawn up until January 2015 to take up cleaning of the surroundings of all the important buildings in Raj Bhavan.
As a part of the Swachch Bharat program, the unused wastelands in the Raj Bhavan are being converted into green pastures. A herbal garden and a greenhouse plantation have been developed as part of the program, and at many areas greenery is being developed.
The GHMC has been collecting over two lorries of garbage on every occasion.
The Raj Bhavan is also contemplating similar programs at a public place, like the premises of a government hospital, to help inculcate in the public a desire to keep their surroundings clean and tidy. (INN)
