AP Govt Will Act Tough Against Mafia: Naidu

The Andhra Pradesh CM said organised mafia had taken a strong grip over the land, sand and mining businesses during the previous regime.
Hyderabad | 23rd August 2014
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday announced that his government would act tough against organised crime, and that the law & order in the State would be flawless.

Replying to a debate on the law & order situation in the State Legislative Assembly, Naidu claimed that the TDP had never comprised on law & order during its previous regimes. A similar approach would be adopted this time, too, to eliminate organised crime from the State.

He said that there was no question of sparing criminals under any circumstances.

Naidu said that organised mafia had taken a strong grip over the land, sand and mining businesses during the previous regime. However, the new TDP government would act tough against the mafia across the State.

He also assured people that peace and harmony would be maintained in the society.

Earlier, the YSR Congress Party MLAs, led by Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, staged a walkout from the House alleging that their voices were being suppressed. They also staged a dharna outside the Assembly. They accused Speaker Dr Kodela Sivaprasad Rao of acting in a partisan manner.

Jagan alleged that the Speaker was giving more opportunities for the ruling party members. "When we wanted to raise the issue of the spate of murders of YSRCP activists post-elections, the Speaker gave an opportunity to TDP MLA G Butchaiah Chowdary to utter innuendos and peddle misinformation," he alleged. Naidu's best hope is to try and paint as gory a picture as possible of the 'previous' regime because he stole the election with his irresponsible promise of waiving farm loans. How is he allowed to get away with such bribery? How come no one investigates Naidu? Also, what is this about YSRCP supporters being killed in various districts. Why is it something only YS Jagan has to fight about? How is anyone silent on this matter? What kind of Democracy are we supporting if we don't express our disgust at these tactics?
