Osmania University Students Joint Action Committee (OUSJAC) members, on Sunday, picketed the Ministers' Quarters at Adarshnagar, demanding that the government declare AP Formation Day on November 1 as 'Betrayal Day'.
The protest at the Ministers Quarters comes despite the
appeal by Telangana Political Joint Action Committee convener K Kodandaram to people and students from Telangana not to boycott the State Formation Day celebrations respecting the sentiments and emotions of Seemandhra people.
Raising slogans against the government, the OUSJAC activists, who came in a rally from the Osmania University campus, laid siege to Chief Minister K Rosaiah's residence at Balkampet. They staged a dharna in front of the CM's residence, demanding that he withdraw orders officially celebrating the Formation Day.
Raising slogans against the CM, the students tried to barge into his residence. However, the police foiled their attempts and took them into custody.
Meanwhile, another group of agitating students laid siege to Ministers' quarters. Some of the activists also tried to enter the premises.
Police foiled their attempts and took 20 activists into custody and shifted them to a nearby police station.
