High Security Marks AP Fete

Telangana ideologue Professor Kodandaram had pointed out that the govt. had indeed recognized Telangana resentment against AP Formation Day, but the unprecedented security arrangements on Monday revealed the seriousness of the intent of the State government to go ahead with the Formation Day celebrations.

Never before had the State seen such security arrangements for a day which was meant to be celebrated.

The TRS and its activists had put the government on the back foot, with calls for disruption of the celebrations and appeals to the people to observe the event as a 'Black Day'.

Cabinet Ministers Danam Nagender and Mukesh Goud are understood to have arrived at the official function accompanied by their own 'henchmen'.

Geetha Reddy was escorted to a function where she was to have unfurled the National Flag in a massive ring of security personnel.

In fact, tiers on tiers of security was thrown around the NTR Stadium, where the government had conducted the official celebrations.

This gave room for speculation that the ministers left nothing to chance, in the sense that they took sufficient care to protect themselves and also to avoid embarrassing situations.

It may be recalled here that Danam Nagender told media persons recently that he was taking part in the celebrations despite a general warning from the pro-Telangana leaders to boycott the function.
