AP Floods: Naidu Slams YSR Congress For Incompetence
TDP president Chandrababu Naidu today alleged that the negligence of the ruling party had turned out to be a curse for the flood-affected people of the state.
TDP president Chandrababu Naidu today came down heavily on the ruling YSR Congress Party and alleged that the negligence of the party had turned out to be a curse for the flood-affected people of the state.
He said that natural calamities did not knock on the door, and that there was a need to work in an organized and efficient manner to handle them. Had the state government worked diligently and efficiently, the loss of lives in the states would have been much lesser, he claimed.
Speaking to media persons at Renigunta, Naidu said that the state government had information in advance that the state would witness a surfeit of rains this year including in the Rayalaseema region, and yet wasn't up to the task. The "lack of experience and the arrogance" of the state government had become a curse to the people of Andhra Pradesh, he said.
"An efficient government would have prevented this human and economic loss in the state. Release of waters from the Pincha and the Annamaiah projects and the Kalyani dam in advance would have prevented the floods in the area. Forget doing that, the authorities of the state government failed to even alert the people living around the projects. And a situation has now arisen where scores of villages are facing the threat of being swept away due to the floods. The disaster management department should now forcibly evict the people living around the projects," he said.
He also alleged that sub-standard works were done in the construction of the Pincha and the Annamaiah projects.
